The Challenge
One of the biggest graduate recruiters in the UK, NHS Graduate Training Schemes originally came to Milkround four years ago with the challenge of finding a way to organise and manage the staggering amount of graduate applications that come in every year.
With stringent entry requirements and a number of separate regional schemes for Scotland, England and Wales; NHS needed a highly efficient sifting and sorting system capable of handling multiple applications both quickly and thoroughly.
The Milkround Solution
Milkround implemented a fully comprehensive online application form for NHS schemes in Scotland, England and Wales; complete with full recruiter management capacities.
Each form integrated a pre-screening tool for minimum qualification requirements, along with biographical data, open–text competency questions and built-in personality scoring along specific NHS screening criteria. The forms also included comprehensive equal opportunities and disclaimer information to comply with NHS regulations.
After candidates had submitted applications, NHS were able to invite ideal candidates to schedule their own interviews and assessments via our add on scheduler; and complete integrated psychometric tests online with recognised providers PSL and PearnKandola, who teamed up with Milkround in 2006 to supply NHS.
To accompany their comprehensive application form, NHS were supplied with an all-inclusive ATS system, with a broad range of management tools including the ability to respond to and categorise candidate applications; build management reports at any stage of the recruitment process on any selection of data; and, most significantly, generate automatic score reports of personality and psychometric test data.
The Result
Our system allowed NHS graduate schemes to effectively manage applications to the scheme at each stage of a complex recruitment process. Out of more than 7,000 applications made to NHS England and Wales in 2006/7 for example; 1,300 have been filtered out at pre-sift stage alone. In addition, Milkround’s automation of important recruitment stages such as psychometric testing has ensured that NHS’s admin workload was significantly reduced.
